🧂Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- (Optional) A pinch of flaky sea salt for sprinkling
Directions
- Preheat oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix it up: Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
- Add the good stuff: Fold in chocolate chips — the more the merrier!
- Scoop and bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each.
- Bake: Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly soft.
- Cool and enjoy: Let cookies cool on the sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Sprinkle a touch of flaky sea salt if you’d like a sweet-salty twist!
Optional Tips/Variations
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker, chewier cookies.
- Swap chocolate chips for chunks or mix in white chocolate or nuts.
- For extra gooey cookies, slightly underbake and let them finish cooking on the tray.
